Week
Eighteen.
HOME SWEET HOME!
A short hop brought the team from Paris where they had visited the customary
sights such as the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triumph and the Louvre, to Rouen
with its striking Gothic Cathedral and medieval streets. The Euro tunnel
provided an easy means of crossing the Channel en route to London where a great
fundraising night at the Alexander Pub helped the project get even closer to
its €250,000 target..
A great air of excitement could be felt around Dun Laoghaire harbour as the
team drove the Land Cruiser off the boat they had taken from Wales and back
onto home soil. Family and friends welcomed them with champagne before a
procession of cars followed them through the sun-drenched streets of Dalkey to
Finnegan's Pub for plenty more celebratory drinks.
The team had successfully completed the 28,759 Km drive across three continents
and through eighteen countries as planned (almost!) and on schedule. The
remarkable four-month drive from Melbourne to Dublin had finally come to an
end.
